Napo equips Serwaa Nyarko SHS labs with furniture, multi-purpose assembly hall in the offing

During a brief ceremony on Friday (20 April), Dr Opoku Prempeh, aka Napo, expressed optimism that this modest contribution will play a vital role in consolidating the school's educational initiatives

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, reaffirmed his commitment to advancing education in his constituency by donating laboratory furniture to Serwaa Nyarko Senior High School at Dichemso in Kumasi.

The 25 benches and over 100 stools are expected to significantly bolster the school’s efforts in providing a conducive learning environment for students pursuing science-related subjects.

During a brief ceremony on Friday (20 April), Dr. Opoku Prempeh, aka Napo, expressed optimism that this modest contribution will play a vital role in consolidating the school’s educational initiatives. HeĀ pledged to address existing challenges faced by the school, particularly concerning issues of congestion and infrastructure.

“I have made a lot of donations to this school…The biggest plan I had for Serwaa Nyarko was to extend the school across the streets to go into the nearly disused structures. And I know that since I left the Ministry of Education that project appears abandoned, but I can assure you that this project will happen”, the MP said.

“I know I have to do something major for this school and getting a multi-purpose Assembly Hall is something I am thinking about to give to Serwaa Nyarko. And I am serious because the school is named after my great grand mum and I hope to make this school a model girls’ school”, he added.

He also advised the students to study hard, pursue their dreams and be responsible citizens in future.

Serwaa Nyarko SHS and its staff expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Opoku Prempeh for his unwavering support and commitment to education in Manhyia South. The donation of laboratory furniture is seen as a tangible step towards empowering students and educators to excel in the field of science.

Mr Owusu Ansah Derchie, Head of Science Department said his team will ensure that the materials donated will serve their purpose.

“If you get into our science lab you could see that we are using benches that are not meant for teaching and learning. These standardized benches and stools will be put to use. Maintenance culture is a problem in this country but over here we will assign a team to monitor the items such that whoever causes any damage will be dealt with”, he stated.
