Election 2024: Mahama not an option, he can’t manage Ghana in four years, says Patricia Appiagyei

The lawmaker stressed the importance of continuity and experience in governance, contrasting the NDC flagbearer's track record with the leadership of the NPP presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia

The Deputy Majority Leader and MP for Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, Patricia Appiagyei has questioned former President John Mahama’s ability to effectively manage Ghana within four years.

The lawmaker has also stressed the importance of continuity and experience in governance, contrasting the NDC flagbearer’s track record with the leadership of the vice-president and NPP presidential candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Expressing doubts about Mahama’s potential in a four-year term, Appiagyei argued that Dr Bawumia’s candidacy would guarantee the continuation of the progress achieved by the NPP government.

She spoke to the media when she led a two-hour walk through the principal streets of Asokwa and interacted with the grassroots on Sunday (5 May).

“Mahama is tried and tested. Dr Bawumia is not tried and tested. If you give the mantle to Dr Bawumia, because of our numerous programmes and the things that we have, continuity will prevail.

“And then we also know that we are going to march up. Despite the world financial crisis, NPP has made Ghana very proud. And you can attest to the fact that IMF has commended the NPP government for achieving what they thought could not be achievable”, Appiagyei noted.

“And what is Mahama coming to do for only four years? We know what governance is like. For four years how can he manage and arrange the resources? the lawmaker further quizzed.

Reverend Benjamin Fosu Nkromah, Asokwa NPP Constituency Chairman urged constituents to endorse Dr Bawumia as President and retain Madam Patricia Appiagyei as Member of Parliament on 7 December.

“Voting for the two would mean continued development for the country as a whole and the Asokwa Constituency in particular”, the Chairman stated.

Addressing the crowd, Nana Ama Ampomah, Ashanti Regional Women’s Organizer commended all participants including MMDCEs, regional, constituency as well as polling station executives and coordinators for sacrificing their time, energy and resources to be part of the walk.

She charged the party members to begin the 2024 campaign on a retail basis where they engage persons they meet on the way with the good policies of the party.

“Let’s go from this walk today and tell the Ghanaian electorate what we have done in government for the eight (8) years they gave us in government and use same to appeal to them to vote for Dr Bawumia and our Parliamentary candidates on December 7 for us to continue with the development of the country”, Madam Ampomah stressed.

Present at the ‘Let’sWalkTheTalk’ event were other notable party members and personalities such as the DCE for Amansie South, Clement Opoku Gyamfi (CID) Lord Inusah Lansah, MCE For Tafo, Nana Yaw Wiredu, Presiding Member for Asokwa Municipal Assembly and John Kwame Duodu (Sir John), First Vice Chairman Atwima Nwabiagya NPP Constituency.

Others were Kwabena Appiah Ampofo (Vyrus), Managing Director of State Housing Company Limited, Francis Adomako, Ashanti Regional Organizer, Raphael Sarfo Patrick, NPP Regional Youth Organiser, Papa Yaw Asare Bediako John, Asokwa Constituency Secretary, and among others.
