Eastern Region: Military restore order at Maame Krobo

The attack led to the burning down of houses and property belonging to nomadic herdsmen in the Zongo community of Maame Krobo

The Eastern Regional Security Council held a meeting on Saturday (4 February), over Friday’s attack on nomadic herdsmen by residents of Maame Krobo in the Afram Plains South district of the Eastern Region.

The meeting, chaired by the regional minister Seth Kwame Acheampong, was aimed at finding lasting solutions to disagreements between nomadic herdsmen and residents of Maame Krobo.

The attack led to the burning down of houses and property belonging to nomadic herdsmen in the Zongo community of Maame Krobo.

The Eastern regional police command intervened to prevent the incident from escalating. The police have moved the herdsmen from Maame Krobo to Donkorkrom to prevent reprisal attacks.

Military officers have been deployed to Maame Krobo to support the police to restore order.
