Eastern Region: Government has created 2.1 million jobs, says Bawumia

The presidential candidate of the NPP said available data shows that there have been 925,000 newly created jobs in the private sector and 1.2 million jobs in the public sector

The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mahamadu Bawumia has said the government has created 2.1 million jobs both in the public and private sector in the last seven years.

He said available data shows that there have been 925,000 newly created jobs in the private sector and 1.2 million jobs in the public sector.

Speaking to religious leaders in Akropong in the Eastern Region,  Bawumia said this government has performed than the previous NDC government.

“My data tells me that since we have been in office for the last seven years we have created 2.1 million jobs. So all we can say is, we have performed better than the previous government. It is not me who is saying it but the data shows,” Bawumia noted.

Also at the Akropong Grace Presbyterian Hall, Bawumia touted the government’s achievement in the area of digitalisation, mobile money interoperability, paperless port system among others.

He called for a paradigm shift the management of the country’s natural resources.

“We haven’t benefitted much from our natural resources; I am going to change that paradigm. I am going to bring a bigger focus on ownership of our natural resources, ” he stated.

Bawumia called for the support of the clergy and Imams in protecting the peace and religious tolerance the country is enjoying.
