Dan Botwe to NPP: Shun radio discourse, resolve matters internally

Botwe's remarks come after six elected Ashanti regional executives petitioned the NPP national leadership over alleged negligence of duty by the regional chairman

Chairman of the national campaign for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dan Kwaku Botwe has expressed disappointment with members of the party in the Ashanti Region for airing their grievances through the media instead of utilising internal party structures.

Botwe stressed the importance of maintaining party unity and discipline, stating that such actions also violate the NPPā€™s constitution. His remarks came after six elected Ashanti Regional executives petitioned the national leadership over alleged negligence of duty by the Regional Chairman, which they claimed was impeding the party’s progress in the region.

Speaking at the inauguration of the partyā€™s campaign team in the Ashanti Region, Botwe urged aggrieved members to engage in dialogue rather than resorting to public platforms.

He highlighted the significance of portraying discipline and focus, especially ahead of the 2024 polls.

“If you have a grievance talk to people to solve it, if you go to the radio station and discuss it what do you achieve by doing that? Weā€™re in a contest with others and we have to send a message that we are disciplined and focused and itā€™s important that we apply all those things in resolving our problems,ā€ he said.

The Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare, mentioned that leading NPP members have intervened to address the issues within the partyā€™s Ashanti Region leadership, indicating that resolutions have been achieved through dialogue.

ā€œI have noticed a lot of happenings, but I have noticed that itā€™s been resolved, as people have sat down and jaw jaw and have understood each other, thereā€™s no problem. Iā€™m strongly convinced that the conviction, and love for the party is so supreme that people were willing to put away all differences and rally together and put Ashanti forward to become the biggest contributor to the breaking the 8.ā€

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti regional chairman of the NPP, echoed the call for unity among party executives ahead of the general elections. He emphasized the party’s determination to win and urged for solidarity to achieve their goals, emphasising that winning was non-negotiable and expressing confidence in the party’s ability to succeed.

ā€œIn our companies, offices sometimes we have some misunderstandings, but it doesnā€™t mean we are not united. NPP we are poised to unite and win the 2024 elections, winning is not negotiable, we are united ever. We are united as a strong party to break the 8, we cannot disappoint Ghanaians and the Ashanti region.ā€
