The King and Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom who is also the president of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs, Jira Yagbonwura Bii-kunuto Jewu Soale I have called on the people of Gonjaland in and outside Ghana to make the celebration of his first anniversary on the Yagbon skin a very peaceful and successful one.

Speaking to Asaase News ahead of the anniversary scheduled to take place in April, the spokesperson for the King, Benkromwura Chief Seidu Saaka Bakari called for peace and unity during and after the occasion.

“On behalf of Yagbonwura and his sub-chiefs, we welcome all Kegbanye (All Gonjas) within and outside Ghana to Damongo. We pray and hope that it should be peaceful, no one should come there with any hidden agenda to destroy the peaceful fibre of the Gonjaland,” he said.

He further appealed to sons and daughters of Gonjaland to be patient.

“We ask every Kagbanye to be patient, patience they say moves mountains.”

He urged all Gonjalanders especially the youth, not to give up on the king and urged them to continue to support him (Yagbonwura).

He further noted that though things have not been easy, the king after ascending the throne has made some achievements including the resolution and enskinment of a new Damongowura which has been vacant for over seven years.

Yagbonwura Bii-kunuto Jewu Soale I was announced as the new Yagbonwura by the kingmakers of Gonjaland on Monday 27 February 2023 after the death of the late King Yagbonwura Tuntumba Sulemana Jakpa Boressa II.
