Amewu describes cause of accident involving newly acquired train as irresponsible and unpatriotic

The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) has begun assessment and repairs on the train

Railway Development Minister, John Peter Amewu has described the cause of the accident involving Ghana’s newly acquired modern train from Poland as irresponsible and unpatriotic.

The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) has begun assessment and repairs on the train.

The GRDA said the initial assessment, however, reveals the damage to the train was a minor one.

The driver of the Hyundai truck with registration number GS 9018 – 20 was arrested by the police and has since been sentenced to six months in jail.

Reacting to the incident on Facebook on Thursday ( 18 April), Amewu said “Unfortunate, irresponsible, and unpatriotic!.”
