Alliance Française Accra, in partnership with Societe Generale Ghana Limited, has launched the 2024 edition of the annual Jazz Festival in Accra.

The event will take place from 22 April to 27 April 2024.

The event forms part of activities to commemorate International Jazz Day.

Artists such as Bibie Brew, Rocky Dawuni, the Band Kokui, as well as Shuffle Demons from Canada are among the numerous sensations expected to be featured.

Speaking to Asaase News on the sidelines of the launch, the director of Alliance Française Accra, Hélène Geneau-Okutue, noted that the event will be interspersed with an art exhibition as well as Jazz workshops.

The head of Marketing at Societe Generale Ghana Limited, Eli Muzzu, reiterated the bank’s commitment towards supporting artistic impressions and cultural diversities for national development.

“Our collaboration with Alliance Française has flourished over the years and is testament to the shared values and vision we hold so dearly,” he said.

He noted that Societe Generale Ghana Limited is delighted to be part of the celebration of jazz music and urged all to embrace the richness of the musical heritage and the diversity it represents.

Elizabeth Agonou, the director of Commerce Ibis Styles, also partners of the event, urged those visiting Ghana for the event to explore the diverse opportunities and potentials the country offers.

The co-founder and creative director of HMLND, Kenneth Boa-Amponsem, who put together the art exhibition for the event, said the inspiration behind the pictorial documentary is to celebrate the return of jazz to its homeland, Africa.
