13th Africa Games: Ghanaian medallists will be paid by next week, says Team Ghana’s Chef de Mission

This is the first time Ghana has hosted the continental games, with Ghanaian athletes receiving a significantly higher record number of medals

Team Ghana’s Chef de Mission for the 2023 Africa Games, Ernest Danso has assured that all sportsmen who won laurels for the country at the just-ended 13th edition of the African Games will be received their per diem by next week.

This is the first time Ghana has hosted the continental games, with Ghanaian athletes receiving a significantly higher record number of medals.

Team Ghana finished sixth on the medal table with about 70 medals at the end of the games held in Accra and Cape Coast.

“This game [African Games] is one of the things, I don’t think anybody would like to play with, you don’t want to make any mistakes, they will be paid their per diem, by this week or next week. They will visit the president and payment will be made as well,” Danso told the Asaase Breakfast Show on Monday (25 March).

“I think they have had the best time so far, they paid them camping allowance and everything, nobody is going to be owed, that I can assure you,” he told host Kwaku Nhyira-Addo.

“Many of my colleagues from the various countries are going back home with excitement, Namibia were telling me one of the things they liked so much was the transport system, so they liked the organisation,” he added.
